SAVANNA - Artist Edition No. 2 - The Art of Rum by Yann Le Gall - 54%
The Savanna Distillery, located in the heart of the prestigious Île de la Réunion, is a historic gem of rum production. Designed and built by the famous engineer Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950, this distillery based in Saint-Paul was originally annexed to the local sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery acquired a distillation workshop specialized exclusively in the production of light export rum, following the signing of a major supply contract with a leading German market player. This step marked a decisive turning point in the distillery's history, boosting its technological development and strengthening the diversity as well as the exceptional quality of its products. Today, the Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its rums to demanding professionals on international markets. True to its traditional know-how, it uses a discontinuous fermentation process, also called "mother vat", composed of 8 fermenters each with a capacity of 100 m3<\/sup>, complemented by their satellite equipment. This artisanal process guarantees the production of a rum of superior quality recognized worldwide.
This exclusive limited edition was created in collaboration with the contemporary artist Yann Le Gall, recognized in the field of street art. Only 2,500 numbered bottles were produced to enhance this exceptional cuvée. Yann Le Gall draws his inspiration from nature, the ocean, and the dynamics of waves, expressing his works on various supports such as wood, metal, canvas, or flexible crystal, using innovative mixed techniques. This exceptional rum, of great age and rare finesse, is a unique blend of two very old molasses rums (Trad S and Trad C20) distilled in 2015 and 2016, complemented by an 8-year-old agricole rum distilled in 2014. The whole has been carefully aged in old French oak barrels, ex-Cognac, giving this cuvée its complex and refined aromas.
