Meikle Tòir - 5 years - The Sherry One - 48%
The GlenAllachie is an iconic distillery located in Aberlour, in the heart of the prestigious Speyside region in Scotland. Founded in 1967, the distillery began production in February 1968 with an impressive capacity of nearly three million liters of alcohol per year. After a period of inactivity starting in 1985, GlenAllachie distillery was taken over by Campbell Distillers (later integrated into the Pernod Ricard group), thus relaunching continuous production since April 24 of that year. Nicknamed at the time The Home of Clan Campbell Whisky, GlenAllachie distinguished itself by the quality and richness of its Single Malts. In 2005, Chivas Brothers launched a special GlenAllachie Single Malt edition in the highly appreciated Cask Edition series. Since 2017, a trio of renowned experts – Billy Walker, Trisha Savage, and Graham Stevenson – has taken the reins under the banner of The GlenAllachie Distillers Company Limited, bringing more than a century of accumulated experience in the whisky industry.
In 2018, the distillery innovated by introducing peated whiskies for the first time, a major turning point in its expertise. The Meikle Tòir range was launched in 2023, the result of 5 years of rigorous maturation in meticulously selected casks to offer an exceptional aromatic profile.
This exclusive edition first matures in American oak casks that previously held Bourbon, after an extended fermentation of 160 hours promoting aroma complexity. Then, it benefits from refined finishing in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, giving the Single Malt deep, indulgent notes rich in nuances. The whisky is peated at 35 ppm using continental peat from Saint Fergus, in Aberdeenshire, used to dry the barley, which gives it a soft smoky character delicately balanced, ideal for connoisseurs of subtle and complex peated whiskies.
