GLENALLACHIE - 12 years Sauternes - 48%
The GlenAllachie is an iconic distillery located in Aberlour, in the heart of the prestigious Speyside region in Scotland. Founded in 1967, this distillery began production in February 1968 with a capacity of nearly three million liters of alcohol per year, demonstrating its significant contribution to the Scottish whisky industry. After a dormant period starting in 1985, GlenAllachie was acquired by Campbell Distillers (later integrated into Pernod Ricard), before resuming production on April 24; marking the beginning of a 29-year continuous era of excellence. Nicknamed "The Home of Clan Campbell Whisky," GlenAllachie distillery has established itself as a major player in single malt whisky. In 2005, Chivas Brothers launched the prestigious Cask Edition series, including a GlenAllachie Single Malt whisky highly appreciated by connoisseurs. Since 2017, under the passionate leadership of Billy Walker, Trisha Savage, and Graham Stevenson, founders of The GlenAllachie Distillers Company Limited, the distillery benefits from over 100 years of accumulated expertise, synonymous with innovation and respect for traditions.
The Wine Series Sauternes, aged for 12 years, is crafted with exceptional care. It undergoes an initial maturation in American oak ex-Bourbon casks, providing a unique roundness. Its maturation is then enriched by an additional finishing of about 2 years in medium-toast French oak barrels formerly used for the prestigious sweet wine of Sauternes. This double maturation imparts the whisky with complex, elegant notes and a characteristic aromatic depth, subtly blending sweetness, exotic fruits, honey, and a light floral touch.
Non-peated, this expression offers purity and finesse that will appeal to enthusiasts seeking a refined and balanced whisky.
