The Torabhaig Distillery, proudly located in the picturesque village of Teangue on the Sound of Sleat of the Isle of Skye in Scotland, embodies the excellence of new Scottish distilleries. Founded in January 2017 by Mossburn Distillers, it is the island's second historic distillery, continuing an ancient tradition of producing exceptional whisky. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century former farm over four years, the distillery benefits from a preserved natural environment near the Allt Gleann stream that inspires its name.
Equipped with a mash tun capable of processing 1.5 tonnes of malt and eight fermentation vessels made from carefully selected Douglas pine, the distillery combines artisanal know-how with modern technology. It uses two copper pot stills named Sir Iain and Lady Noble to distill one of Scotland's most phenolic peated whiskies. A dedicated local team of nine distillers, blending youth and passion, ensures production of exceptional spirits. Maturation mainly takes place in first-fill bourbon oak casks (80%), complemented by sherry hogsheads, virgin French oak barrels, and a rigorous selection of other cask types, contributing to the unique aromatic richness of the product.
Allt Gleann Batch Strength is a whisky made from Concerto barley variety, ensuring a superior quality raw material. Aged for several years in first-fill bourbon casks (80%) and used whisky casks (20%), it presents a balanced and deep complexity. Bottled straight from the cask at an impressive 61.1%, it offers an intense and authentic tasting experience, perfect for enthusiasts seeking the purity and power of an undiluted single malt.
