Lochlea - Sowing Edition - Second Crop - Spring 2023 Edition - 46%
The Lochlea Distillery is ideally located in Kilmarnock, in the prestigious county of Ayrshire (Lowlands) in Scotland, a region worldwide renowned for its exceptional whiskies. Founded on a historic farm once owned by the family of Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet, this cattle farm hosted Robert Burns himself from 1777 to 1784. Historically, barley was grown there to feed livestock, but since its gradual transformation into a distillery, this noble ingredient has been used exclusively to produce a single malt whisky of remarkable quality. Under the impetus of the current owner, Neil McGeoch, and thanks to a building permit obtained in 2014, the farm buildings were meticulously converted into a state-of-the-art distillery, inaugurated in August 2018. Initially led by the expertise of Malcolm Rennie, the distillery is now managed by former Laphroaig director, John Campbell, guaranteeing exceptional know-how. The barley grown in fields located only 150 meters from the distillery matures over a period of 5 to 6 months, ensuring incomparable quality and freshness, and is exclusively dedicated to producing Lochlea whisky, thus reinforcing the authenticity and unique terroir of this Scottish spirit.
Lochlea Sowing Edition Second Crop reveals a Lochlea single malt from a new perspective, faithfully capturing the natural and seasonal transformations of the farm. This exceptional whisky is aged in first-fill Bourbon casks, enhancing its aromatic richness and offering a deep and harmonious tasting experience, ideal for discerning enthusiasts.
