Lucien Foucauld - Exceptional Eau de Vie - Circa 1940s
Lucien Foucauld & Co is an iconic brand founded by Lucien Foucauld in 1847, a recognized pioneer who greatly contributed to making Cognac an internationally renowned spirit. An influential member of the Commercial Court for 15 years, then its President from 1884 to 1888, he also served on the local council of Cognac, leaving a lasting impact on the economic and viticultural development of the region. Around 1900, the distillery located on rue de Pascal Combeau in Cognac was fully equipped, including storage facilities, a traditional cooperage, a state-of-the-art distillery for the time, a kitchen for staff, and a stable. Lucien Foucauld was determinedly engaged in the fight against phylloxera, the devastating pest that ravaged vineyards in the 1880s. By the end of the 19th century, his renowned vineyard "du Fery," located in the prestigious Borderies region, was recognized as one of the finest terroirs in Cognac.
This rare bottle was carefully bottled during World War II, originally intended for consumption by German garrisons stationed in France at that time. Today, it represents a precious historical testimony and a unique collector's item, symbolizing the craftsmanship and traditional heritage of French eaux-de-vie.
Clos des Spiritueux is proud to offer you this historic gem embodying the excellence, tradition, and authenticity of old Cognac, a must-have for discerning enthusiasts and collectors.
