Wemyss Malts (pronounced "Weyms' Malts") is an exceptional independent bottler from Scotland, known for its unique and bold blends. Founded in 2005 by siblings William and Isabella Wemyss, this family business continues a rich tradition linked to the history of Scottish whisky. Indeed, the illustrious Wemyss family saw Haig build the very first distillery on their lands located in the prestigious Kingdom of Fife as early as 1840. This exceptional terroir has benefited for several generations from a barley cultivation of remarkable quality, thus providing the ideal raw material for maltsters to produce exceptional whiskies. Drawing on experience gained from master wine blenders in southern France, William Wemyss was inspired by these skills to craft Scottish whiskies with a distinctive and bold character. As for Isabella Wemyss, endowed with a refined nose and rigorous quality standards, she carefully selects prestigious Scottish Single Malts as well as the best casks from around the world. In collaboration with their talented Master Blenders, they combine these precious ingredients to create innovative, complex, and flavorful blends that captivate the most demanding whisky lovers.
Spice King is a masterful blend of base malts composed of 59% carefully selected Single Malts from Speyside, complemented by a support malt representing 13.5% peated malt from the Highlands and 3.5% from the island of Islay, renowned for its powerful heavily peated character. The inimitable signature of this blend comes from a signature malt at 24%, rich and moderately peated, from the Highland islands, giving Spice King its perfectly balanced aromatic profile, where spices and smoky notes elegantly combine.
