Tatanka is an iconic artisanal company from Martinique, specializing in creating hand-painted artwork on various artistic media. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has been painting directly on glass in an authentic naive art style, offering unique bottles that depict everyday life scenes at the Neisson distillery. These works pay a precious tribute to the meticulous work of the men and women who contribute to crafting the prestigious Neisson agricultural rums. For each special edition, three different original illustrations are offered, enhancing the exclusivity and artistic value of each bottle.
The Neisson Distillery, located in the heart of Carbet, Martinique, was founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his entire career to perfecting traditional distillation techniques to ensure exceptional quality. Today, his descendants – Claudine and then her son Grégory – passionately continue this family heritage by maintaining high standards of excellence. Since 2013, the distillery has committed to a rigorous organic farming approach, culminating in 2016 with the launch of the first certified organic AOC Martinique rum. Gradually, all agricultural plots, covering more than 40 hectares, have been converted to organic farming to ensure sustainable and environmentally respectful production. After many years of research and innovation, Neisson now uses its own strains of natural indigenous yeasts, carefully selected from those naturally present on sugarcane. This meticulous selection preserves the authenticity of aromas and the gustatory complexity of the rums. Moreover, the thoughtful choice of cane varieties adapted to soil diversity, controlled irrigation management to save water, and efficient, respectful treatment of agricultural effluents make Neisson an exemplary model of sustainable and eco-responsible production, perfectly in harmony with the local ecosystem.
This exceptional white rum, made exclusively from organically grown sugarcane, bears the evocative name "Le Coupeur". This unique product is presented in a fully green bottle, symbolizing its ecological commitment. It is the very first organic edition of the Tatanka collection, corresponding to the 2016 vintage, recognized as the first organic rum from the Neisson distillery and also the very first certified organic white rum AOC from Martinique. This agricultural rum, powerful at 66%, reveals all the richness and soul of the Martinican terroir, enhanced by ancestral know-how.
