Tatanka is a recognized artisanal company from Martinique, specializing in creating unique hand-painted artworks on various surfaces. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has been painting directly on glass in a naive art style, thus creating truly original bottles. These works depict authentic scenes of life at the distillery, paying tribute to the passionate work of the men and women involved in crafting the famous Neisson rums. For each limited edition, three different illustrations are offered, making each bottle a collectible art object.
The Neisson Distillery, located in the heart of Carbet in Martinique, is an iconic house founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his life to revolutionizing and perfecting traditional distillation techniques. Today, his descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, continue this family passion with a strong commitment to sustainable development. Since 2013, the distillery has initiated a pioneering transition to organic farming, culminating in 2016 with the launch of the first organic rum labeled AOC Martinique. Gradually, more than 40 hectares of farmland have been converted, affirming the desire to produce exceptional agricultural rums in complete harmony with the local ecosystem.
Neisson also stands out for the exclusive use of its own strains of indigenous yeasts, carefully selected from those naturally present on the sugar canes grown on site. The rigorous selection of varieties adapted to each plot, optimized irrigation management for significant water savings, as well as efficient and respectful treatment of agricultural effluents, are integral parts of this sustainable process. This innovative ecological approach guarantees a rum with exceptional character, the result of a perfect balance between tradition, quality, and respect for nature.
