Tatanka is an iconic artisanal company from Martinique, renowned for its exceptional hand-painted artworks on various surfaces. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has been hand-painting works directly on glass bottles, in a unique style of authentic naive art. These bottles beautifully depict traditional life scenes of the Neisson distillery, paying tribute to the passionate work of the men and women dedicated to the exceptional production of Neisson rums. Each special edition is distinguished by the presentation of three different illustrations, offering collectors and enthusiasts a true work of art.
The Neisson Distillery, a jewel of the Martinican terroir, is located in the heart of Carbet, in Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson family, its success is owed to Jean Neisson, a trained chemical engineer, who devoted his life to perfecting ancestral distillation techniques. Today, the distillery is run by his descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, who carry on this family tradition with passion and rigor. Committed to sustainability, the distillery initiated a complete transition to organic farming starting in 2013. In 2016, it launched the first organic AOC Martinique rum on the market, a benchmark reference. More than 40 hectares of farmland have thus been converted, ensuring environmentally respectful production.
Thanks to thorough research, Neisson now masters the exclusive use of its own indigenous yeasts, naturally derived from the sugarcane of its plots. The rigorous selection of crop varieties adapted to each terroir, optimized irrigation management to carefully preserve water resources, as well as ecological treatment of agricultural effluents, contribute to producing exceptional agricultural rums in perfect harmony with the unique ecosystem of the Neisson lands.
