OLD BROTHERS - Jamaican Rum MLC 2001 - 19 years old - Cask Strength - 61.30%
The fascinating story of Old Brothers begins in 2004, when the unbreakable friendship between Anthony Martins and Julien Leroux was formed within the French Army. Together, they shared many missions around the world, forging a strong bond and a common love for exceptional spirits. Anthony Martins, a certified sommelier and wine cellar specialist from the Paris Wine School, founded in December 2015 "La Source", an exceptional cellar specializing in spirits in Toulouse. Quickly, in November 2016, the ambition arose to create an independent bottling company dedicated to seeking the best expressions from distilleries worldwide. Thanks to their numerous travels and discoveries, they bring back rare and exclusive batches. Each Old Brothers bottle is carefully hand-numbered, adorned with a plant fiber string placed by Anthony and Julien themselves. The label, fixed by a ribbon sealed with a wax stamp embossed with a compass-shaped logo, symbolizes their initiatory journeys around the world.
This exceptional cask was rigorously selected from the prestigious Clarendon distillery in Jamaica, renowned for the superior quality of its rums. The MLC 2001 benefited from an extended aging of 18 years under tropical climate, followed by an additional maturation of 1 and a half years in a continental climate, ensuring remarkable aromatic complexity. The reduction was meticulously done with local spring water, slowly decreasing from 79% to 61.3% over a period of 5 and a half months, to preserve all the richness and balance of flavors. This rum is a true gem for lovers of rare spirits, offering a perfect balance between power and finesse, and stands as a must-have in the world of high-end spirits.
