The famous Caroni distillery, founded in 1918 in the state of Trinidad & Tobago, is a true icon in the world of rum. This state-owned distillery had its own sugar mill, ensuring a continuous supply of raw materials thanks to locally grown sugarcane of exceptional quality. Renowned for its unique expertise, Caroni was equipped with different types of stills, including column and pot stills, allowing it to produce rums with remarkable aromatic complexity. Long considered "secret" and "mystical," the distillery bottled very few rums under its own brand, making its rums rare and coveted objects. Its distinctive aromatic profile, delicately blending notes of hydrocarbons, sweet spices, and honey, makes it an essential reference for discerning enthusiasts. Following the sugar industry crisis, the government made the tragic decision to close Caroni in 2002, further enhancing the rarity and myth surrounding its extraordinary productions.
For this third release in the "Employees" series, the three expressions "Vijay," "Buju," and "Nitz" pay tribute to the talents who marked Caroni. The "Buju" cuvée especially celebrates Ganesh Ramgobie, an emblematic employee who dedicated 10 years of his life to this legendary distillery. The rums contained in this bottle come from a distillation carried out in 1998. It is an exceptional blend of 7 casks aged 22 years, bottled at its natural strength of 67%, guaranteeing incomparable intensity and aromatic richness.
