MACALLAN 18 years - Sherry Oak - 43%
The Macallan Distillery is located in Craigellachie, in the heart of the famous Speyside region in Scotland. Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, following the acquisition of his official distillation license, it has embodied the excellence of Scottish malt whisky for nearly two centuries. After the founder's death, James Davidson and James Pierce joined the distillery as partners, giving new momentum to this prestigious house. In 1868, James Stuart took over management, first as tenant-operator and then as full owner, further enhancing the brand's reputation. The distillery has undergone several ownership changes, but 1980 remains a major turning point with the launch of the iconic Single Malts range The Macallan, consolidating its identity and prestige for decades to come. In 1996, Highland Distillers, in partnership with the Japanese giant Suntory, acquired control of Macallan-Glenlivet, initiating a new era of innovation and international expansion. Since 1999, under the aegis of the Edrington Group, The Macallan has been regularly valued as one of the group's five flagship brands, confirming its essential position in the premium whisky world.
Today, The Macallan is one of the most sought-after Scottish whisky brands worldwide, regularly ranking among the top three in global sales. Nicknamed "the Rolls Royce of Single Malts" and "the Dom Pérignon of Scotch," The Macallan enjoys an unparalleled reputation, often recognized as the best Single Malt in the world. This reputation for excellence results from a rigorous commitment to traditional distillation techniques, including the use of small hand-crafted copper stills, the careful selection of the highest quality "Golden Promise" barley, and meticulous aging in rare and perfectly maintained Spanish oak sherry casks.
The Macallan 18 years Sherry Cask is fully matured in European oak casks that previously held top-quality sherry, giving it an exceptional aromatic richness, combining intense notes of dried fruits, soft spices, and precious wood.
