The prestigious Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, bringing with them a rich agricultural and artisanal tradition. At the very end of the 19th century, Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau made a strategic acquisition of part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie, auctioned following a severe crisis in the local sugar industry. In 1895, he fully realized his ambition by purchasing the Espérance estate, transforming the property from a traditional sugar mill into a renowned distillery, pioneering in the production of exceptional rums.
Today, François Longueteau continues the house's excellence, running the only Guadeloupean distillery where the owner is both a committed farmer and a passionate master distiller. This dual role guarantees incomparable quality as the rums are produced exclusively from the estate's sugarcane, harvested and crushed at full maturity on the same day. Natural fermentation lasts 48 hours, with no additives or artifices (no antifoams, acidifiers, or additives), preserving purity and authenticity. Distillation is then carried out in a traditional 28-plate Savalle column still, ensuring a raw, powerful, and complex rum.
This Longueteau Genesis Column Still Rum aged 24 months in French oak barrels comes from the delicate red R579 canes of the 2016 vintage, cultivated with the utmost respect for the land and terroir. Distilled at 72.3°, this rum then underwent careful aging for 24 months, imparting a unique aromatic richness before being bottled at its natural strength. A true raw column and barrel-strength rum, it embodies the most faithful and authentic expression of the family know-how, lovingly passed down through four generations of expert distillers.
This limited, rare, and precious edition comprises only 5,000 numbered bottles, intended for discerning enthusiasts and collectors seeking excellence.
