PLANTATION RHUM - Aged Rum - Barbados - Vintage 2005 - 42.8%
Plantation Rhum is a house born from the passion and determination of Alexandre Gabriel, an expert in the world of spirits, driven by the desire to evoke strong emotions through his creations. For him, a great spirit "is above all the sharing of an intense emotion." Fascinated by rums, he began his journey by trying to resell old Cognac barrels in the Caribbean, before being captivated by the richness and diversity of the terroirs reflected in these exceptional rums. Drawing on his unique expertise in aging acquired in the Cognac world, he sought to optimize the maturation of rums to preserve and enhance their aromas, often altered by too harsh aging methods. Alexandre Gabriel, a perfectionist at heart, thus created Plantation to realize his ambitious project. His commitment then led him to invest in rum production itself, through the purchase of distilleries and investment in production companies. His contagious enthusiasm and quality demands are found in each Plantation rum, which today rank among the most prestigious French bottlings.
This Plantation Rhum Barbados rum comes from the remarkable 2005 vintage. It is the result of a carefully crafted blend combining pot still and column distillation, carried out by the West Indies Rim Distillery, owned by Plantation. The spirits obtained were elegantly aged in Bourbon barrels as well as Sherry casks directly on the island of Barbados for 11 years. Completing its journey, this rum benefits from additional aging in France, in Cognac, in Cognac barrels from the Pierre Ferrand house, for 2 years, thus bringing a subtle and refined signature unique to Plantation. An extra touch of authenticity is added at bottling time thanks to the raffia wrapping surrounding each bottle. Traditionally used to prevent counterfeiting, this artisanal detail gives undeniable charm to the packaging, an initiative especially appreciated at Clos des Spiritueux!
