HABITATION VELIER - Amber Rum - FOURSQUARE - Vintage 2013 - 64%
Velier was founded in 1947 by Casimiro Chaix, in Genoa, Italy. With his partner Arturo Lupi, they created in 1953 an import company of excellence, specialized in high-end wines and spirits, distributing notably champagne, grappa, as well as premium tea and cocoa. In 1983, Gian Luca Gargano, then marketing director of Spirit SpA, the largest Italian import company, joined the business. In 1985, Velier specialized in importing the best spirits, mainly intended for prestigious restaurants and wine bars. In 1988, Velier became the first Italian company to import New World wines, thus strongly innovating the market. From 1992, Velier committed to selecting rare casks of Single Malts and exceptional rums for its exclusive brand, an activity it developed from 1995. In 2001, Velier proudly offered the first selection of Damoiseau rums. Habitation Velier is a unique project born in 2015 from the collaboration between Luca Gargano and the best rum distillers in the world. Together, they offer exceptional Pure Single rums, each edition embodying an original project with unique characteristics, synonymous with "world firsts" for the distilleries involved.
This amber rum vintage 2013 was distilled by Foursquare under the expert guidance of master distiller Richard Seal, then carefully bottled by Velier. It is the very first Pure Single Rum produced by this renowned distillery. This cuvée was distilled in a state-of-the-art pot still designed in collaboration with Green Engineering and Forsyths, before being aged in old 370-liter cognac casks, carefully selected and matured in Barbados, giving the rum its rich, balanced, and complex aromatic profile.
