OCTOMORE - 16.2 - 2025 Edition - 58.1% at Clos des Spiritueux
Discover the Octomore 16.2 – 2025 Edition, available from Clos des Spiritueux . Bottled at 58.1%, this exceptional single malt embodies the quintessence of Bruichladdich's expertise on the mythical island of Islay. True to the distillery's reputation for innovation, this limited edition further explores the influences of red wine casks on the world's most powerful peat, offering a unique experience where unprecedented strength rhymes with refined elegance.
Distilled in 2017 from Scottish barley grown during the 2016 harvest, this heavily peated single malt boasts an impressive 208 ppm, making it one of the most intense whiskies on the market. It is aged in a meticulous blend of prestigious casks: Rivesaltes red wine, Ribera del Duero, and Burgundy, providing a remarkable balance between fruity richness and smoky depth. Bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration or coloring, it retains an authentic texture and an intact aromatic expression.
On the nose, this rare whisky opens with a captivating harmony of dry smoke, candied black fruits (blackberry, morello cherry, plum) and accents of leather, pure cocoa and toasted oak. The attack on the palate is powerful, perfectly controlled thanks to the roundness provided by aging in red wine barrels. Its unique aromatic profile combines rich peat, intense dark chocolate, stewed red fruits and a hint of salt. Its texture, both smooth and silky, evolves towards a long, vibrant and subtly spiced finish, where elegant smoke, ripe fruits and noble wood mingle.
With this edition, Octomore offers a controlled and refined intensity, merging the raw energy of Islay malt with the sensual complexity of the best red wines. This dense, precise and noble expression highlights the perfect expertise of multi-cask aging signed Bruichladdich, to be discovered exclusively at Clos des Spiritueux .
