ARDBEG - 1977 - 46%
\nArdbeg is a prestigious distillery located on the mythical island of Islay, in Scotland, renowned for producing some of the most peated and iconic whiskies in the world. With a history dating back to 1798, Ardbeg is one of the oldest distilleries on Islay, known for its artisanal craftsmanship and the exceptional quality of its Single Malts. This house made history by being the first distillery to experiment with space aging, after sending part of its production to the International Space Station in 2011 to observe the impact of weightlessness on the maturation and aromatic complexity of whisky.
\nSince its commercial launch in 1815, the same year as its famous neighbor Laphroaig, Ardbeg has won over enthusiasts with its powerful and complex whiskies, highly appreciated both for pure tasting and for creating prestigious blends. Despite several ownership changes and a difficult phase marked by closures, notably in 1981, the distillery experienced a major revival in 1997 after being acquired by Glenmorangie, before becoming a gem within the French luxury group LVMH. Today, Ardbeg benefits from full-time production, combining tradition and innovation in the service of unparalleled quality.
\nArdbeg's two traditional stills allow an annual production of about one million liters of alcohol, offered exclusively as authentic and unfiltered Single Malt. This whisky is mainly aged in American Bourbon barrels, with a smaller portion matured in Spanish Sherry casks, giving it a subtle balance between sweetness, woody notes, and fruity complexity. Ardbeg's character is marked by intense peat (between 50 and 55 ppm), but it stands out from other Islay whiskies by its unique aromatic profile combining smoky power, refined spices, and sweet softness. This aromatic signature makes Ardbeg a must-have for peated whisky lovers and a benchmark on the global market.
