A 1710 was born in the heart of the renowned Habitation du Simon in Martinique, a unique terroir known for its authentic expertise and excellent agricultural tradition. A 1710 embodies the perfect harmony between exceptional artisanal heritage and a bold contemporary vision, resulting in a rum of rare and unmatched quality.
Its creation dates back to the year 1710, a date symbolizing the passionate commitment of Jean Assier, the visionary founder. Today, it is his direct descendant, Yves Assier de Pompignan, who carries the innovative new philosophy that drives the distillery and Habitation du Simon, now managed by the prestigious brand Clos des Spiritueux. This distillery is distinguished by a unique Charentais copper still equipped with 7 plates, affectionately named "Belle Aline."
The aged rums A 1710 result from a meticulously orchestrated blend by the renowned Cognac Master Blender, Stéphanie Martin. To create this masterpiece that is Midnight Sun, the best molasses vintages from the exceptional terroirs of Martinique and Guadeloupe were rigorously selected. Six rums aged from 8 to 11 years underwent a unique refinement in 300L Cognac barrels within Habitation du Simon. Their final blend was made in French oak vats, previously used to age Cognac eaux-de-vie, to be refined there for six months, thus giving the rum unparalleled aromatic complexity and richness.
Midnight Sun stands out for its soft aromas, subtle roundness, and a perfect balance between intensity and elegance. It was hand-bottled in a sumptuous collector's decanter, and each of the 1300 bottles produced in this 2016 edition carries a unique number, guaranteeing its authenticity and exclusivity.
