Père Labat - Very Old Rum 5 years - Tatanka - 42%
The Père Labat is a prestigious brand of agricole rums from the exceptional island of Marie-Galante, renowned for the quality and authenticity of its productions. The unique history of this distillery dates back to the 18th century, when Madame Poisson acquired the estate, then a simple sugar factory located in the heart of Marie-Galante. At the beginning of the 20th century, under the impetus of Mr. Rameau, a visionary new owner, the sugar factory was profoundly transformed thanks to significant investments in a traditional still and a Creole copper column, symbols of artisanal know-how passed down from generation to generation. These developments mark the official birth of Domaine Poisson as a renowned distillery, which then decided to honor Père Labat, an emblematic pioneer of fresh cane juice distillation techniques. Thus were born the famous Père Labat rums, true jewels of exceptional agricole rums, carefully crafted according to an authentic heritage and methods respectful of tradition.
This remarkable edition presents a 5-year-old aged rum slowly and carefully matured in precious Bourbon barrels, offering an intense aromatic richness and an elegant complexity between woody, vanilla, and spicy notes. The bottle stands out with a unique artwork created by Tatanka, a Martinican artisanal house expert in the art of hand painting on glass. Since 1996, a local artist has been deploying his talent by creating directly on the glass illustrations inspired by the naive art style, poetically capturing traditional scenes of distillery life. This exclusive series pays tribute to the passionate work of the men and women who dedicate themselves to crafting this exceptional rum. Titled "Les Bœufs Tirants", this first collaboration between Père Labat and Tatanka is limited to only 1,000 numbered bottles, making each bottle a rare and precious collector's item, ideal for discerning enthusiasts and collectors.
