The Distillerie Massenez is located in Dieffenbach-au-Val, the historic heart of Alsace, a region renowned for its unique artisanal distillation expertise. Founded in 1870 by Jean-Baptiste Massenez, a passionate master distiller, this iconic house has upheld a tradition of excellence for several generations. In 1913, his son Eugène Massenez innovated by distilling wild raspberry for the first time, a refined eau-de-vie that charmed the Queen of Sweden and earned the distillery the prestigious title of official supplier to the Swedish royal court. Gabriel Eugène Massenez, the third generation, enhanced the distillery's international reputation by partnering with Michelin-starred chefs such as Paul Bocuse and being present in exceptional gastronomic establishments like La Tour d’Argent. To support this remarkable growth, a new modern distillery was inaugurated in 1979. Today, the brand exports to over 110 countries and diversifies its range by offering high-end spirits that combine tradition and innovation. In 2010, Distillerie Massenez joined the Clos des Spiritueux group, renowned for its expertise and exceptional products. Bernard Baud, President of Grandes Distilleries Peureux, located on the other side of the Vosges and famous for their "Griottines," brought new energy to the house while preserving its authentic identity and family DNA.
An eau de vie is a spirit obtained by fermentation and alcoholic maceration of fruits, berries, roots, or nuts, followed by rigorous distillation. The Poire Williams distilled by Massenez is renowned for its pure and powerful taste, capturing all the freshness and delicate aroma of the perfectly ripe fruit.
