SAVANNA - Grand Arôme Lontan 57 - Batch No. 4 - Bottled in 2021 - 57%
The Savanna Distillery is located on the Island of Réunion, an exceptional terroir renowned for its outstanding rums. Founded between 1948 and 1950 by the visionary Emile Hugot, this iconic distillery was originally situated in Saint-Paul and integrated into the local sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery strengthened its expertise by acquiring a distillation workshop specialized in the exclusive production of light rum intended for export, notably to a leading German market player through a major supply contract. This strategic investment was a true catalyst in the technological development and qualitative diversification of Savanna rums, which today enjoy international renown. The majority of rums produced by the Savanna Distillery are destined for export through a demanding professional network.
Like many great rum producers, the Savanna Distillery uses a batch fermentation process, also called the "mother tank process." This system includes 8 fermenters of 100 m3<\/sup> each, accompanied by their satellites. This rigorous method guarantees controlled fermentation synonymous with recognized qualitative excellence, giving the rum deep aromas and remarkable purity—essential criteria for enthusiasts and connoisseurs of high-end rums.
The Grand Arôme Lontan Rum is made from the fermentation of molasses derived from sugarcane grown on a unique terroir. This molasses is distinguished by a high non-alcohol content, exceeding 800 g\/HLAP (Hectoliters of Pure Alcohol), as well as an exceptional richness in esters with a guaranteed minimum of 500 g\/HLAP. These specificities give the rum a powerful aromatic intensity, a profile rich in sensations, and a gustatory complexity that delights the most refined palates.
