GLENFARCLAS - Extremely Rare Limited Edition - Sherry Oloroso Cask - 16 years old - Vintage 1991 - Bottled in 2007 - 46% ABV
The Glenfarclas distillery, a gem of the Speyside region, is located in Ballindalloch, Scotland, an area renowned for its exceptional whiskies. Founded before 1791, this iconic distillery officially obtained its license in 1836 under the leadership of Robert Hay. On June 8, 1865, the company was acquired by John Grant and remains to this day a true family heritage, owned and managed by his descendants. In 2007, Glenfarclas launched The Family Casks, an exclusive collection of 43 remarkable Single Cask bottlings, offering each year from 1952 to 1994 a unique rarity. This prestigious series continued until 2001, although the distillery exhausted its stock of casks from the 1952 and 1953 vintages.
For this sublime limited edition, the following casks were meticulously selected: Sherry Butts No. 213, 214, and 215 (distilled on January 25, 1991), Sherry Butt No. 5624 (distilled on June 14, 1991), and Refill Sherry Hogshead No. 10219 (distilled on December 5, 1991). Each cask imparts the whisky with exceptional aromatic richness, revealing complex notes derived from aging in Sherry Oloroso casks, a true aromatic signature of Glenfarclas.
