GLENTAUCHERS - 25 years old - 1995 - Gordon & MacPhail - 57%
Gordon & MacPhail is a renowned independent bottler of Scottish whisky and owner of the Benromach distillery, known for its remarkable collection of exclusive bottlings from Scotland's most prestigious distilleries. Founded in 1895 in Elgin, in the historic northeast region of Scotland, this family business began as a grocer and wine and spirits merchant. In 1915, former apprentice John Urquhart took over the company, transforming it into a major player in the whisky industry. Today, Gordon & MacPhail continues more than a century of heritage, combining tradition and innovation in the world of quality spirits.
The Glentauchers distillery, located in the heart of the prestigious Speyside terroir in Scotland, was established in 1897. From 1898, production increased thanks to the strategic alliance between James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and three partners of the Glentauchers Distillery Co. Although the distillery experienced a suspension of activity in 1985 under United Distillers' management, followed by a sale to Allied Distillers in 1989, its single malts remain rare gems. Indeed, whiskies from Glentauchers are mainly used in renowned blends, and official bottlings are exceptional. It was only in 2000 that an official edition was launched, succeeding the semi-official bottlings marketed in the 1990s by Gordon & MacPhail.
This unique edition benefited from an exceptional aging of 25 years in first-fill Sherry casks, Single Cask No. 5074, giving it an incomparable aromatic richness. Bottled on May 18, 2021, this rarity is limited to only 595 bottles, making each bottle a collector's treasure for discerning enthusiasts.
