HUDSON - Manhattan Rye - 46%
Hudson is an exceptional whiskey brand produced by the prestigious Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery located in New York, United States. In 2003, Ralph Erenzo had the visionary idea to settle in the northern part of New York State to launch an artisanal distillery, well before the current rush towards local distilleries in the United States. Thanks to his tenacity, Ralph defended his whiskey against strict regulations, even influencing laws in favor of craft distilleries, and producing whiskey for the first time in the state since Prohibition. Today, there are more than 1,800 American craft distilleries, including over 180 just in New York, reflecting this enthusiasm and the success of Hudson's pioneering spirit.
The distillery draws its roots from history with the construction of the Tuthilltown Gristmill in 1788, when Selah Tuthill built one of the first mills in the region to transform local grains into flour. This flour mill was the oldest continuously operating mill in the history of New York State. In 1982, it was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At that time, it also produced kosher matzo flour essential for the Passover celebration for the Jewish community of New York and its surroundings.
Manhattan Rye is a 100% rye whiskey, carefully crafted from carefully selected local grains. It is aged in very small barrels of 9 to 60 liters, a method that allows for rapid and intense maturation, giving the whiskey a unique aromatic richness as well as a deep and enticing amber color.
