Bourbon - MAKER'S MARK - 45%
Maker's Mark is an iconic brand and a renowned Bourbon distillery located in Loretto, in the heart of Kentucky, the undisputed birthplace of American bourbon. Founded in its modern form in 1953 by the visionary Bill Samuels Senior, the distillery has a rich heritage, as the Samuels family's whiskey production dates back to 1780, with various ownership phases since 1805. Today, although the distillery has been part of the global Beam Suntory group since its acquisition by Hiram Walker & Son in 1981, family management remains active, ensuring the authenticity and unique quality of the spirits.
The Maker’s Mark Bourbon stands out for its exclusive wheat-based recipe, without rye, giving this whiskey a characteristic sweetness and smoothness. Its artisanal production method includes roller milling that prevents overcooking of the grains, slow cooking in open cookers for optimal aroma development, as well as fermentation using a proprietary yeast, a well-kept secret of the distillery. Distillation is carried out at 65% in three copper columns equipped with doubler plates, a crucial technique to shape the "new-make" profile, the base alcohol before aging. Finally, aging takes place in American oak barrels air-dried and lightly toasted to achieve a lighter style, avoiding excessively sweet notes and allowing for a finely balanced overall profile.
