OCTOMORE - 10.4 - 63.5%
The Bruichladdich Distillery is nestled on the mythical island of Islay, in Scotland, the birthplace of exceptional whiskies. This iconic distillery produces Single Malt whiskies under three prestigious brands: Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore. Additionally, it also produces the famous The Botanist Gin, known for its finesse and unique botanical ingredients. Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, Bruichladdich has a rich and eventful history. After family conflicts, William Harvey took over until the fire of 1934 followed by his death in 1936. The distillery changed owners several times over the decades before closing its doors in 1994. In 2000, a group of investors led by Mark Reynier from Murray McDavid (known for its Waterford whiskeys in Ireland) revived Bruichladdich, completely dismantled and then rebuilt while preserving its Victorian-era equipment. Operating by gravity and without modern automation, this unique distillery values artisanal quality. In 2012, Bruichladdich joined the Rémy Cointreau group. The distillery places the local origin of barley at the heart of its values, ensuring authenticity and traceability in its production and marketing.
The Bruichladdich range is distinguished by its unpeated style, while heavily peated versions are grouped under the Port Charlotte label. The Octomore series is an exclusive collection of limited editions, famous for having the highest peat levels in the world among Single Malt whiskies, offering an unparalleled tasting experience for discerning enthusiasts.
The Octomore 10.4 was distilled in 2016 from Scottish barley of the 2015 harvest, Concerto variety, selected for its exceptional quality. This unique whisky matured for 3 years in French virgin oak, coming from twenty-eight Limousin oak casks carefully toasted at high temperature before filling in warehouse 12. This exclusive production yielded 12,000 bottles, each revealing the power and complexity characteristic of this exceptional vintage.
