TRES HOMBRES - Old Bajan - Foursquare - 8 years - Barbados Ed. 39 - 20cl - 42.2%
Les Frères de la Côte represent an innovative collective of importers and bottlers specialized in products exclusively transported by ecological sailing ships. Founded in 2015 by two passionate French sailing captains: Raphaël and François Mangin, the company is committed to a sustainable and environmentally respectful maritime approach. Since 2017, their rums have been carefully bottled at their warehouse located in Saint-Étienne, in the Loire region. Transport is carried out aboard the prestigious sailing ship Très Hombres, a 32-meter brigantine without an engine, capable of carrying 35 tons of cargo. Since 2010, this vessel has completed 12 transatlantic rotations from its home port in the Netherlands, demonstrating the reliability and ecological commitment of the process.
In 2019, the creation of La Compagnie des Frères de la Côte marked a new step aiming at the restoration of the voilier Zeehaen, an imposing brigantine over 45 meters long capable of carrying up to 120 tons of goods. This ambitious project embodies the desire to develop a modern fleet of cargo sailing ships, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional maritime transport. Through this initiative, Clos des Spiritueux promotes a transatlantic trade respectful of ecology, advocating human and environmental values at the heart of goods transportation.
The rum presented in this 20cl bottle is an exceptional Old Bajan, distilled in 2001 at the famous Foursquare Distillery located in Barbados. Aged carefully for 8 years, it matured until January 2020 in rigorously selected Bourbon barrels. In Bridgetown, before export, this premium rum was transferred into Port, Madeira, and Sherry Oloroso barrels to complete its finishing and develop unique aromas. Meticulously packaged, it was then loaded aboard the Très Hombres sailing ship for a six-month return journey to Amsterdam, thus reinforcing its maritime and artisanal character. The cork is authentically sealed with beeswax, enriched with natural pigments ground in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, reflecting the quality requirement and unique artisanal know-how upheld by Clos des Spiritueux.
