Founded in 1798, Tobermory is the only whisky distillery located on the Isle of Mull and is among the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. It stands out for its artisanal and authentic production, crafting Tobermory gin as well as two unique Single Malts: a non-peated Tobermory and a Ledaig with powerful and characteristic peat. These two malts are made using the same traditional stills, the same fermentation vats, identical natural conditions, and the same pure local water; nevertheless, they reveal entirely different aromatic profiles, notably due to the specific choice of malted barley used.
The distillery was acquired by the Distell group in 2013, thereby strengthening its international reach and the quality of its productions.
This exceptional bottling was distilled and casked in the summer of 1998. This flavorful Ledaig aged about 6 years in traditional casks before being transferred in 2004 into Oloroso Sherry casks for an extended 13-year finish, thus developing rich and complex notes, fruity and spicy, characteristic of Andalusian sherry.
