RHUM JM - Armagnac Barrel Finish - 40.8% 2006
AOC Martinique
The birth of JM rums began amidst lush vegetation where one of the most beautiful distilleries is located, at the Fonds-Préville estate in Macouba (Martinique). The first distillations took place in 1845 at the initiative of Jean-Marie Martin, who then added his initials "JM" to his rums. In 1912, the distillery passed into the hands of Ernest Crassous de Médeuil and his brother Gustave, then in charge of management and owner of the Bellevue estate. Following extensive improvement work, the two estates merged and became the Fonds-Préville estate. Today, the Bernard Hayot Group is the majority shareholder of SCA Héritiers Crassous de Médeuil.
Sugar cane is grown on the Fonds-Préville estate (225 ha) to ensure optimal quality of the raw material on a very special terroir: the slopes of Mount Pelée. The fermented juices are distilled in two traditional Creole copper columns up to 72° (no more), which helps preserve the aromatic authenticity of their sugar cane in their rums. The distillery is supplied by spring water from Mount Pelée.
This JM Finition Fût d'Armagnac rum comes exclusively from the 2006 vintage harvest and owes its name to the refining technique it used. It was first aged for around ten years in oak barrels before being refined for 10 months in ex-Armagnac barrels from Château de Tariquet (see the link: http://www.tariquet.com/ ). 11 years later, in 2017, it was bottled and is now happily offered to you in our Clos des Spiritueux boutique or on our website. The quality of this rum has been recognized and rewarded at several international competitions.
