Worthy Park, founded in the 1670s, is the oldest distillery in Jamaica. Its history is deeply rooted in the sugar industry started around 1710, shortly followed by molasses rum production. Only three families have managed this legendary estate: the Price family, with Francis Price as the first owner honored for his services to the British Crown; the Talbot family from 1863; and the Clarke family since 1918. Between 1950 and 2005, distillation was halted by order of the Jamaican government, while the sugar industry continued. Distillation is carried out exclusively in a Forsyths double retort copper pot still, an iconic element of the Jamaican style. Ecology holds a central place at Worthy Park, integrated into all strategic and operational decisions, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
