JAMAICAN RUM - Hampden - 46%
The prestigious origins of the Jamaican distillery Hampden date back to 1684, initially founded by Thomas Goddard. Since 2009, this historic distillery has belonged to the Hussey family (Everglades Farms Ltd.), who bought it from the State. Today, with nearly 5600 hectares of sugarcane passionately cultivated, the rums produced by the Hampden Rhum Company are among the most authentic and emblematic of Jamaica. True to an ancestral know-how, production is still done according to the traditional heavy pot rum method (heavy rums), offering a unique aromatic palette rich in natural esters (aromatic compounds). Fermentations are carried out using indigenous yeasts in spontaneous fermentation, in a historic warehouse filled with period pieces, thus guaranteeing a production of rare authenticity and respectful of Jamaican traditions.
A worthy successor to the legendary Jamaican Stinking Rums, this Hampden 46% seduces with its harmonious blend of ripe fruits, intense spices, and deeply marked phenolic notes. Its authentic personality perfectly reflects the spirit of Pure Single Jamaican Rums! After a long fermentation and distillation carried out in a double retort pot still, it has aged 8 years under the tropics in the Hampden warehouses, an essential process to reveal the complexity, depth, and finesse of this exceptional rum.
World premiere: after more than 265 years of continuous activity, Hampden, the iconic Jamaican distillery, finally unveils its own bottlings to the general public, thus affirming its status as an essential icon on the international scene of exceptional rums.
