CITADELLE - Reserve - Aged Gin - 45.20%
Citadelle Gin is a French creation by Maison Ferrand, distilled at Château de Bonbonnet . Founded in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel , the House defends a vision of the spirit combining respect for traditional methods and a constant desire to reinvent the classics. In 1996, with the launch of Citadelle, Alexandre initiated the revival of gin in France, positioning the brand as a pioneer in the French market. Faced with the constraints of the AOC Cognac, which imposed the inactivity of the Charente stills for several months, Alexandre obtained, after five years of negotiations, the authorization to use these stills for the distillation of gin. A rebirth for these emblematic copper vats, now at the service of creativity.
Citadelle Réserve is an exceptional gin aged in rare wood barrels. Since 2008, Alexandre Gabriel has been reviving a forgotten method: aging gin in barrels. After years of research and testing, he has developed a unique 5-month maturation process in acacia, mulberry, cherry, chestnut, and French oak barrels . The final blend is made in a spectacular, patented 2.5-meter-high wooden egg , which provides a remarkable roundness and smooth finesse.
" A gin with a strong, resolutely contemporary personality. Its maturation in a wooden egg gives it a velvety texture and an elegant woody harmony. A true tasting experience, to be appreciated slowly, like a great spirit."
