Since 1940, Tapatio tequila has been produced at the La Alteña distillery , located in Arandas, in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico . The Camarena family has continued this tradition for four generations. Carlos Camarena, the former master distiller, is now accompanied and gradually replaced by Jenny Camarena , the first woman to hold this role in the distillery.
Tapatio Tequila Blanco 110 (High Proof) is a more concentrated, undiluted version of the classic Blanco tequila. Boasting a high 55% ABV (110 proof) , it is a distinct departure from the standard 40% proof version. It is made from Weber blue agave , aged between 6 and 10 years, grown in the highlands of Jalisco. The piñas are slowly cooked for four days in brick ovens, then crushed using a combination of traditional and mechanical methods. Natural fermentation takes place in open wooden vats, before double distillation in copper stills. The tequila is then bottled without dilution or aging.
" The Tapatio Blanco 110 opens with an intense expression of ripe agave blended with spicy notes of pepper. Its fresh, minty finish brings a beautiful liveliness. Ideal for enhancing a cocktail or to be enjoyed neat for those who love intensity and character."
