Based in Lagrasse , in the heart of Languedoc , the Kina Karo house was founded in 1928 under the leadership of André Carreau . In 2020 , Aurélien Carrelas took up the torch to perpetuate this natural aperitif made from plants and wine . Each vintage is made without preservatives , colorings or artificial flavors .
Red vermouth is the result of a blend of 19 botanicals —including orange and lemon peels— cold-macerated in neutral alcohol . These botanicals are then infused into an Occitan red wine made from the Carignan grape variety. This vermouth can also enhance a classic cocktail like the Americano .
