Tatanka is a craft company from Martinique known for its unique hand-painted artworks created on various surfaces. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has dedicated his art to direct decoration on glass, in an authentic and colorful naive art style. These bottles thus become exceptional pieces representing inspiring life scenes from the Neisson Distillery. Each creation pays tribute to the passionate work of the men and women who contribute to the making of the prestigious Neisson rums. For each special edition, three different and exclusive illustrations are offered, making each bottle a unique and sought-after work of art.
The Neisson Distillery is located in the heart of Carbet, in Martinique, a rich and fertile land, cradle of an ancestral rum tradition. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, this family distillery perpetuates exceptional know-how. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, devoted his life to deeply perfecting traditional distillation techniques. Today, the legacy is carried on by his descendants, Claudine and her son Grégory, who continue to innovate while respecting the values of authenticity. The transition to certified organic farming began in 2013, and by 2016, Neisson launched the first organic AOC Martinique rum, a strong symbol of ecological and qualitative commitment. Gradually, all agricultural lands, covering more than 40 hectares, now benefit from this sustainable management.
After many years of meticulous research, Neisson has become a pioneer in the exclusive use of its own indigenous yeast strains, carefully selected from those naturally present on its sugar canes. The reasoned choice of crop varieties adapted to the unique typology of each plot, combined with rigorous control of irrigation to optimize water savings, completes this sustainable approach. Efficient treatment of effluents also ensures the preservation of the local environment. All these combined efforts now allow the Neisson Distillery to produce exceptional agricultural rums, made in perfect harmony with the natural ecosystem of the lands where they are born.
