The Distillerie Massenez is located in Dieffenbach-au-Val, in the heart of the renowned wine region of Alsace. Founded in 1870 by Jean-Baptiste Massenez, a master distiller, this traditional house perpetuates a unique know-how. In 1913, his son Eugène Massenez innovated by distilling wild raspberries for the first time, producing a refined eau-de-vie that quickly charmed the Queen of Sweden. This royal recognition made Distillerie Massenez the official supplier to the Swedish royal court, thus cementing its international prestige.
The third generation, represented by Gabriel Eugène Massenez, admirably developed the distillery's reputation by forging prestigious partnerships with French haute cuisine, notably with starred chefs such as Paul Bocuse, as well as iconic establishments like La Tour d’Argent in Paris. In response to this remarkable growth, a new distillery was established in 1979 to meet increasing demand. Today, the brand exports to over 110 countries and diversifies its range of exceptional eaux-de-vie and liqueurs.
In 2010, Distillerie Massenez joined the Grandes Distilleries Peureux group, a recognized player in fine spirits, located on the other side of the Vosges and notably famous for its Griottines® kirsch cherries. Under the leadership of Bernard Baud, president of Grandes Distilleries Peureux, a new momentum was infused while preserving the authenticity and historical DNA of Maison Massenez.
A liqueur is a neutral alcohol carefully sweetened and flavored to offer a unique gustatory complexity. The fruit cream belongs to this large family, with a major specificity: a high sugar content. Indeed, a liqueur must contain at least 100 g of sugar per liter and an alcohol content ranging between 15% and 55%. When the sugar exceeds 250 g per liter, the liqueur is called "cream," worthy of refined cocktails, elegant digestifs, or savory culinary recipes.
