MIDLETON - Redbreast 27 years old - Single Pot Still - Ruby Port Casks - Batch 2 - 53.50%
The prestigious Midleton distillery complex is located in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland, in the heart of a region worldwide renowned for the quality of its spirits. It belongs to Irish Distillers, a flagship subsidiary of the international group Pernod Ricard. This distillery produces some of the most famous Irish whiskeys, including Jameson, Tullamore Dew, and of course Redbreast, a jewel of the single pot still.
Redbreast traces its origins to Gilbey’s, a famous Dublin spirits merchant who once used a distillate from the Jameson distillery located on Bow Street. In 1985, Gilbey’s ceased production of Redbreast before selling the brand to Irish Distillers in 1986. After several years off the market, Redbreast was successfully relaunched in 1991, reviving the tradition of exceptional Irish whiskey.
Today, Redbreast is one of the few single pot still whiskeys still produced, embodying a historic Irish style. This type of whiskey is made in a single distillery from a unique blend of malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled in a traditional pot still, ensuring rich aromas and an incomparable texture.
The Redbreast 27 years old represents the oldest permanent expression in the Redbreast range. This exceptional whiskey is exclusively composed of Pot Still whiskeys, carefully triple distilled, then patiently aged in exceptional casks: Bourbon, Sherry, and Ruby Port. This unique maturation imparts a complex aromatic depth to the whiskey, a perfect balance between sweetness, spices, and fruity notes typical of Ruby Port.
