Kavalan is an iconic distillery located in the picturesque county of Yilan, in Taiwan. Founded in 2005 by the innovative entrepreneur Mr. Tien-Tsai Lee, it launched its first bottling in 2008. Driven by the dream of creating Taiwan's first exceptional whisky, T.T. Lee quickly elevated Kavalan to the rank of the most prestigious distilleries in the world, competing with the legendary producers of Scotland and Japan. This success was crowned by the outstanding distinction received in Jim Murray's 2012 Whisky Bible, which awarded its Solist Fino Sherry Cask the title of "New Whisky of the Year." The distillery is part of the powerful King Car Group, a guarantee of quality and constant innovation.

Kavalan whisky draws its unique character from its multi-mineral waters sourced from the pure Snow Mountain and from carefully orchestrated aging in the heart of a warm subtropical climate combining intense heat and moderate humidity, softened by sea winds and mountain breezes. This exceptional natural setting allows the whisky to mature much faster than in most other producing regions, offering rich and complex flavors. Kavalan applies the traditional rigorous double distillation: the first step separates alcohol from water, while the second distillation is divided into three specific parts – the head, the heart, and the tail. Only the best part of the heart is rigorously selected and then aged in casks, ensuring superior aromatic quality. The careful choice of casks plays a crucial role in the final flavor profile of the whisky. At bottling (except when bottled at cask strength), a dilution with pure "Kavalan" water is carried out to reach the optimal alcohol level.

This prestigious expression, Solist, comes from a single cask of whisky (#S151231037A) that previously contained Spanish Oloroso Sherry. This whisky was distilled, matured, and bottled at cask strength on Taiwanese soil, thus capturing the very essence of its terroir. Only 531 exclusive bottles were produced, making this single cask a true treasure for discerning enthusiasts and collectors.
