Tatanka is a recognized artisanal company in Martinique, specializing in creating hand-painted artworks on various supports, notably rum bottles. Since 1996, a Martinican artist has been the originator of these unique works painted directly on glass in a style of naïve art. These bottles depict authentic scenes of daily life within the distillery, paying a vibrant tribute to the passionate work of the men and women involved in crafting the prestigious Neisson rums. Each special edition of this collection features three different illustrations, making each bottle an exceptional collector's piece.
The Neisson Distillery, renowned for its artisanal expertise, is located in Carbet, Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, it continues a family tradition of excellence. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer, dedicated his entire career to optimizing distillation techniques to ensure superior quality. Today, his descendants, Claudine and her son Grégory, passionately carry on this heritage. In 2013, Neisson Distillery fully committed to an organic farming approach. In 2016, it launched the first certified organic AOC Martinique rum, a major innovation that highlights their exceptional terroir. Over 40 hectares of plantations now operate under these ecological and sustainable principles. After many years of in-depth research, Neisson uses its own strains of indigenous yeasts, carefully selected from those naturally present on the sugarcane of the estate. This rigorous choice, combined with a reasoned selection of crop varieties adapted to the specific typology of each plot, ensures a unique aromatic quality. Mastery of irrigation for optimal water management and efficient effluent treatment complete this virtuous system, thus guaranteeing the production of exceptional agricultural rums respectful of the natural ecosystem of the Neisson lands.
