This exceptional Single Malt whisky comes from the prestigious Hanyu distillery, located in the picturesque river town of Hanyu, on the banks of the Tone River. Nestled amid barley fields and rice paddies, this traditional distillery upheld the art of malt whisky in the Scottish manner. Although distillation ceased in 2000, the site retains a rich and unique history. In 2004, the mills and equipment related to whisky production were dismantled after a change of ownership. However, thanks to the decisive intervention of the founder's grandson, the stocks and facilities were preserved. He restored the distillery, which resumed production in 2008 under the now famous name Chichibu, a renowned brand in the world of Japanese whiskies.

This rare and sought-after expression from the Hanyu distillery was carefully distilled in 2000 and aged with care in an American oak hogshead barrel (Single Cask #957), imparting rich and complex notes. This unique Single Malt was bottled at cask strength in 2014 with an alcohol content of 59.9%, and was exclusively selected for Clos des Spiritueux, ensuring optimal quality and authenticity for high-end whisky enthusiasts and collectors.
