CAMUS Cognac - Monbazillac Cask Finish - Saint Aulaye Small Batch - 40%
Camus is an independent, family-owned, and iconic Cognac House established in the heart of the prestigious Borderies terroir since 1863. Founded by Jean-Baptiste Camus, it is now led by the fifth generation, Cyril Camus, ensuring a tradition of excellence and unique expertise. Since the late 19th century, Camus has established itself on the international market by exporting its Cognac to England, thus consolidating its first foreign outlet. During the 20th century, the House expanded its reach across Europe and into Russia, becoming the official Cognac of Tsar Nicholas II's court. Owning 180 hectares, Camus holds the largest plots among all producers in the Borderies Cognac cru. The blending of eaux-de-vie relies on renowned traditional grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard, offering unparalleled aromatic complexity.
The Monbazillac Cask Finish is an exceptional Cognac, crafted from two exclusive Colombard parcels from the last vineyards of Saint-Aulaye. Its initial aging takes place in small fine-grain barrels, carefully selected from the precious woods of La Double. These barrels, delicately toasted and low in tannins, reveal subtly balanced woody notes, enhancing a floral and fruity aromatic palette. The aging process occurs in one of the historic towers of the Château de Saint-Aulaye, a majestic monument built by local lords in the 11th century, rich in history and tradition. To perfect its character, this Cognac is then transferred into first-fill Monbazillac sweet wine casks with a capacity of 225 liters, where it completes its refinement with elegance and intensity.
