Hennessy is a prestigious Cognac House founded in 1765 by the Irish military officer Richard Hennessy, a pioneer in the art of blending exceptional eaux-de-vie. After serving under Louis XV, Richard Hennessy settled in the Cognac region and began producing and exporting his cognacs, first to the United Kingdom and Ireland, then quickly to the United States thanks to the remarkable quality of his spirits. In 1813, his son James Hennessy formalized the company name Jas Hennessy & Co. It was also at this time that the Fillioux family became Master Blenders of the House, continuing a tradition of excellence and unique know-how, passed down through more than 8 generations and over 250 years.
Also recognized for its spirit of innovation, Hennessy merged in 1971 with Moët & Chandon to form Moët Hennessy, then in 1987 with Louis Vuitton, giving birth to the exceptional group LVMH.
