TRES HOMBRES - Captain Choice - Matinik Agricole 2015 - Old Martinique Rum - Ed.41 LA FAVORITE - 51.5%
Les Frères de la Côte are a group of importers and bottlers specializing in products exclusively transported by eco-friendly sailing ships. Founded in 2015 by two French captains, Raphaël and François Mangin, this company is committed to sustainable maritime transport. Since 2017, Frères de la Côte rums have been bottled at their warehouse in Saint-Étienne, Loire, thus guaranteeing rigorous French quality and expertise. They sail aboard the Très Hombres, a 32-meter Brigantine without an engine, capable of transporting 35 tons of cargo in an ecological way. Since 2010, this sailing ship has crossed the Atlantic 12 times from its home port in the Netherlands. In 2019, to strengthen this sustainable approach, La Compagnie des Frères de la Côte was created to restore the voilier Zeehaen, a Brigantine over 45 meters long with a capacity of 120 tons, symbolizing an innovative fleet of sailing cargo ships. This revolutionary concept offers an eco-responsible alternative to traditional maritime transport, promoting a more humane transatlantic trade, respectful of ecology and less dependent on fossil fuel economy.
Captain’s Choice edition 41 is an exceptional agricole rum from Martinique, distilled in 2015 at the renowned Distillery La Favorite. Initially aged in Bourbon barrels, this rum reveals a unique aromatic complexity. It is then refined in a unique blend of Madeira cask and Armagnac cask, before being loaded aboard the Très Hombres for a maritime journey back to Amsterdam lasting 6 months. This prolonged exposure to sailing transport gives the rum subtle and deep nuances, perfectly in harmony with the artisanal and ecological spirit of the project. Each bottle is meticulously sealed with beeswax mixed with natural pigments ground traditionally in a windmill in Zaandam, thus authenticating each edition and its natural heritage.
