LA FAVORITE - Exceptional aged rum - The Château Reserve - Vintage 2000 - 43% ABV
La Favorite represents one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the historic remains of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it took the name La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, Henri Dormoy acquired the estate and modernized the sugar factory to transform it into a renowned distillery. Despite a temporary suspension of its activity in the late 1930s, linked to the adventures of Albert Dormoy, Henri's son, the distillery was revived in 1956 thanks to his younger brother André, who undertook a complete renovation. Today, La Favorite cultivates sugarcane on 60 hectares and also sources from small local producers to ensure impeccable quality. It still operates thanks to an authentic steam engine dating from 1906, a symbol of its living industrial heritage. The vesou (cane wine), resulting from a slow fermentation that can last up to 72 hours, is distilled through two distinct Creole columns: a fully copper column used since 1957 and a more modern one installed in 1986.
This La Réserve du Château vintage 2000 rum is therefore an exceptional creation stamped La Favorite. It has benefited from an exceptional aging of 14 years in oak barrels, under the expert supervision of cellar master Robert Charles, guaranteeing a rare aromatic richness.
Each year, this prestigious Réserve du Château cuvée is produced in a limited edition, with a maximum of 10,000 bottles numbered and hand-waxed, intended for discerning enthusiasts and passionate collectors.
