Vintage 1981 - BARREL-AGED BRUT - 35 Cl bottle
Frédéric Bourgoin, a passionate winemaker based in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France), crafts exceptional cognacs with his family on their family estate, now known as Clos des Spiritueux. These cognacs are decidedly atypical, both in style and authenticity. Their philosophy is based on natural viticulture, complete transparency, and a touch of innovation to enhance every expression of the terroir.
The family vineyard, rooted in tradition since 1930 under the name BOURGOIN, now extends over the prestigious crus of premiers bois, petite champagne, and fins bois. Their sole goal: to help French enthusiasts rediscover the authentic and noble taste of a true winemaker's cognac.
"I mainly claim the little-known terroir of premiers bois, a cru forgotten since the original 1909 map, benefiting from exceptional Upper Cretaceous (middle Cenomanian) subsoils. I strive to create 'natural' cognacs, without artifices, that best reveal the uniqueness of the terroir where they were born."
A 'natural' cognac means no blending, no filtration, no coloring, and no added sugars. Each cognac is bottled by vintage, by parcel, and by barrel. Older vintages are offered at their full strength, uncut.
For young eaux-de-vie, reductions are always made with distilled rainwater to optimize purity and aromatic complexity. Racking is done according to the lunar phases, by simple gravity, to respect fluid mechanics and avoid any invasive or excessive filtration.
Bottling is entirely artisanal and done by hand at the Clos des Spiritueux estate. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, demanding restaurateurs, and high-level mixology experts." Quantities remain very limited, thus guaranteeing consistently exceptional quality and taste expression.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994, 35cl bottle at 43% vol. A 1994 vintage cognac of stunning rarity, carefully aged and finished uniquely in a 10-liter micro-barrel subjected to crocodile charring (55 seconds under direct flame). On the nose and palate, an explosion of intense tropical aromas: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango.
