BENRIACH - 13 years old - 2007 Smoky PX Puncheon Single Cask - 56.20%
The BenRiach distillery is an iconic single malt distillery located in the heart of Speyside , Scotland , a renowned region for producing the finest Scotch whiskies. Since its founding in 1898, BenRiach has distinguished itself through its expertise, innovation, and complex history: established on the same site as Longmorn, it benefits from the purity of the Burnside underground spring water. After a few years of operation, the whisky industry crash forced the distillery to close, remaining unused until 1965. However, traditional malting continued to operate to supply Longmorn during this period. Revitalized by Glenlivet Distillers, BenRiach underwent modernization and, from 1972 onwards, incorporated the production of peated single malt for blended whiskies. Its first single malt, launched under the BenRiach brand, was released in 1994. The distillery's history continued with various major groups, such as Seagram and then Pernod Ricard, before a new era began in 2004 thanks to an independent consortium of whisky enthusiasts. In 2016, the Brown-Forman group acquired BenRiach, along with its sister distilleries Glendronach and Glenglassaugh, enriching its heritage with a unique collection of casks dating back to 1965. Today, BenRiach is renowned for its expertise in crafting peated and unpeated whiskies, appreciated by connoisseurs worldwide.
BenRiach Cask Edition is a rare release, distilled by the talented Master Blender Rachel Barrie on February 16, 2007. This exceptional single malt has patiently matured for 13 years in Pedro Ximénez Puncheon casks (cask no. 3944), guaranteeing a unique aromatic richness and complexity worthy of the finest Speyside whiskies. Only 664 bottles were produced, making this release a true treasure for collectors and connoisseurs of premium whisky.
