The Springbank Distillery is one of the last two iconic distilleries still operating in the historic Campbeltown region, located on the Kintyre peninsula in the southwest of Scotland. Renowned for its ancestral expertise, it produces high-quality Single Malt whiskies under three distinct brands with unique profiles: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. Founded in 1828 by Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, Springbank is the 14th licensed distillery in Campbeltown. By 1934, only Springbank and Glen Scotia remained, bearing witness to the rich heritage of this pioneering Scottish whisky region. Still owned by the direct descendants of the founders, this artisanal distillery maintains strict control over the entire production process, from traditional barley malting to final bottling. This rigorous control allows perfect mastery of the three distinct styles Springbank offers, influenced by the precise choice of casks and the unique maritime climate of Campbeltown. Furthermore, Springbank's parent company, JA Mitchell & Sons, relaunched the prestigious Glengyle distillery in 2004, where Single Malts are produced under the renowned Kilkerran brand. The group also owns the renowned independent bottler Cadenhead's, known for its exclusive selections of rare whiskies.
This exceptional expression of Kilkerran was released in 2025 and corresponds to the 11th batch of the highly sought-after Heavily Peated series. This powerful and complex whisky was fully matured in Bourbon and Sherry casks, giving it rich, smoky, and fruity aromas appreciated by fans of peated Single Malt.
