TALISKER - 8 years - Tidal Churn - Special Release 2024 - 58.7%
The Talisker Distillery is located in Carbost, on the pleasant Isle of Skye in Scotland, an iconic region known for its whiskies marked by wild nature and oceanic climate. Founded in 1831 by the visionary MacAskill brothers, the distillery has preserved a unique artisanal know-how that reflects the authenticity and richness of the Scottish terroir. The original building was a generous gift from the chief of the MacLeod clan, symbolizing the historical and cultural attachment to the region. Since then, Talisker has evolved to become a key figure, now part of the prestigious Diageo Classic Malts collection. With five stills in operation, the distillery produces about 2 million liters of alcohol per year, using pure and crystalline water drawn directly from the springs of the Cuillin Hills, which proudly overlook the distillery. The barley used is grown in the fertile region of Muir of Ord, located only 20 km west of Inverness, to ensure the excellence of raw materials despite the poorer soil of Skye.
The Talisker Tidal Churn is part of the exclusive Special Releases 2024 collection by Diageo, designed for connoisseurs seeking special and limited editions. This exceptional whisky has been carefully aged in casks polished by stones and saltwater, a unique process where the initial layers of barrel toasting are polished by stones mixed with seawater, giving an incomparable maritime and mineral signature. Afterwards, the casks are gently re-toasted, intensifying the depth of aromas and gustatory complexity.
Slightly peated notes, bringing a soft subtle smoke, an emblematic characteristic of Talisker, perfectly balancing power and elegance.
