NAGAHAMA - Bourbon Heavily Peated Single Cask No.#313 - 2017/2021 - 61.9%
The Nagahama distillery is located in Shiga, Japan. Originally founded under the name Nagahama Roman Beer Co. Ltd, it began whisky production in 2016. Today, it is recognized as the smallest whisky distillery in Japan. Nagahama not only produces authentic Single Malt whiskies, but also blends carefully selected whiskies internationally, aging them in Nagahama's unique climate to offer exceptional creations.
The distillery's stills are among the smallest in Japan: the main pot has a capacity of 1,000 liters and the second still, 500 liters. The heating system used is indirect, by steam, ensuring precise distillation. The still's name, "Aranbic," is inspired by its oriental appearance recalling the Arab origins of distillation. The water, rich in minerals, comes directly from Mount Ibuki, and the barley, both peated and unpeated, is imported from England. Nagahama is part of the famous Shin Group, an expert in prestigious Japanese spirits.
Master blender Takashi Kiyoi and distiller Yusuke Yahisa crafted this remarkable Single Malt from a very peated barley, aged in Bourbon single cask No. 313, offering a powerful and delicately woody sensory experience.
